Obopay India appoints Chief Marketing Officer

Obopay Mobile Technology India, a leading mobile payment service company has announced Vijay Balakrishnan as  their Chief Marketing Officer. Vijay will be responsible for their entire Marketing & Communication efforts.

Prior to joining Obopay, Vijay held senior Leadership & Marketing roles in some of India’s leading  conglomerates like the Tata group and Bharti Airtel where he was instrumental in launching, establishing and successfully delivering rapid market shares for their top brands.

He spent a decade with the Marketing Salary Tata group in their FMCG beverage business at Tata Tea and Tata Coffee handling a variety of marketing roles. He also worked on Tetley’s India market strategy with the UK international marketing team.  Vijay then moved on to Bharti Airtel, where he headed Marketing in the Executive Team at Andhra Pradesh which delivered market leadership for Airtel under tough market conditions. He subsequently went on to head the Sales & Marketing function for Kerala circle. Most recently, Vijay served as the Vice President of Marketing at DigiBee MicroSystems, in the business of developing world class wireless products and solutions for emerging markets.

Vijay is a Chevening Scholar from the London School of Economics, UK and holds a PGDMM from the Times School of Marketing. On his joining Obopay Mobile Technology India, Balakrishnan said “I am absolutely thrilled on joining Obopay Mobile Technology, a global pioneer in its field, which is at  the forefront of changing the lives of millions of mobile users by giving them unimagined opportunities of multidimensional transactions from the comfort of their mobile phones in real time.
