Famu Journalism Students Put On A Marketing Show

Bright yellows, greens and muted reds jumped from the projector screen to excite panelists who visited Florida A&M University’s School of Journalism and Graphic Communication on Friday.

The group of business leaders who support FAMU viewed a marketing campaign for the international company Haba Na Haba a Swahili word meaning little by little.

But there was nothing little about the campaign that students created. Public-service announcements, online banner ads and other items were created to support the company’s global mission: to empower at-risk youth affected by the AIDS pandemic.

Haba Na Haba was established to empower young people in Tanzania by providing educational, health and business opportunities through quality handwork in handbags, pillows, tablecloths and other items.

Panelists were also impressed by the work the group completed.

“This is ready to go to Target or Bed, Bath & Beyond,” said Terrence Williams, vice president of human resources for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group.
